The Companies Act 2006

The Companies Act 2006 is the most significant piece of legislation to hit the statute book in fifty years.

The Act aims to simplify the company law regime in order to promote enterprise and stimulate growth and in many ways is deregulatory for private companies, but quoted companies will be subject to increased regulation. However, with 70 or so sets of regulations to be made under its powers and over 1,300 sections, a fully developed understanding will be required in order to ease the administrative burden and realise the benefits to business that the Government seeks.

In October 2007 and April 2008 Pearson Hinchliffe Commercial Law presented the first two in a series of four seminars on the Act. Designed to focus on the perspective of accountancy professionals and timed to coincide with the phased implementation of the Act, these well-received seminars also have a wider appeal and have proved very popular with business people in general.

We are pleased to be able to make available below the PowerPoint presentations used in Seminars 1 and 2.
